Hi Jon:


That IP and Port combination are fine.

Try pinging 8.8.8.8 to see if you have internet.

Then try telnet-ing to that IP and port:
telnet geofon.gfz-potsdam.de 18000

It respond to me so you can use this to test your connection. (Note: that
IP does NOT respond to ping; I am assuming you are using Linux here)

It is also possible that your system administrator has port 18000 blocked.
